Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Review: 85,000 Bonus Points + $99 Companion Fare

Limited-time offer. The Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature Card is the one of the new refreshed Alaska Airlines cards in the new combined Alaska–Hawaiian ecosystem. Formerly the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Card, and still issued by Bank of America. Note that you can now also use your “$99 + fees” Alaska Airlines Companion Fare on Hawaiian Airlines flights within North America, including to/from Hawaii, as long as the booking is made on alaskaair.com.

Right now, there is a limited-time improved 85k offer, which is usually also the one promoted by flight attendants inflight with their code handwritten on the flyer. However, any 7 digit promo code works on the application, and I’ve historically always gotten the bonus with any code.

Highlights:

  • 85,000 Atmos points + $99 Companion Fare (must pay taxes & fees from $23) after $4,500 in purchases within the first 120 days of opening your account.
  • Annual $99 Companion Fare. Get a $99 Companion Fare (must pay taxes and fees from $23) each account anniversary after you spend $6,000 or more on purchases within the prior anniversary year. Valid on all Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines flights within North America booked on AlaskaAir.com.
  • First checked bag free on Alaska & Hawaiian (primary + up to 6 guests on same reservation). Any cardholder who purchases Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines airfare with their card, and up to 6 additional guests traveling on the same reservation, may check their first bag free.
  • Preferred boarding. Primary cardholder + up to 6 guests traveling on the same reservation paid via this card can enjoy preferred boarding in group C before general boarding. Preferred boarding is only available on flights operated by Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, or Skywest.
  • 20% back on all Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines inflight purchases. Eligible in-flight purchases include food, drinks, and Wi-Fi.
  • 3X points on eligible Alaska Airlines & Hawaiian Airlines purchases; 2X points on everyday categories like gas/EV charging, local transit & rideshare, cable and select streaming services; 1X everywhere else.
  • 10% extra with Bank of America relationship. 10% bonus on points from purchases if you have an eligible Bank of America® or Merrill® account.
  • Earn 1 status point for every $3 spent on purchases.
  • No foreign transaction fees.
  • $95 annual fee.

Bottom line. The Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® offers a unique set of perks for Alaska Airlines customers (along with Hawaiian Airlines in many cases), including free checked bags for more than just the primary cardholder and the “famous” $99 Companion Fare is still here as well.

I don’t receive any commission for this offer. I will be adding this offer to my ongoing list of Top 10 Best Credit Card Bonus Offers.

  1. If you had the Alaska card recently, can you get the bonus from this one?

    • Yes, my understanding is that you can if you apply for a new Atmos card and get the bonus, even if you have the old card. As far as the app, it only says “This one-time promotion is limited to customers opening a new account in response to this offer and will not apply to requests to convert existing accounts.”

  2. what is the promotion code to apply this card

  3. DIXON KWOK CHUNG says

I recently applied and was approved for this card (May 1, 2026) via this link. At the time, the required spending shown on this page was >$4500. Now, I see that it has gone up to >$6000. So, I’m wondering what it truly is. Secondly, I just want to confirm my understanding regarding when I will be able to purchase my companion fare. According to your information, I’m not able to get that until after my anniversary year of the date when my card was approved. Further reading of the details I received from the letter mail, it is only after two billing cycles beyond the anniversary. In other words, I won’t find the code for the companion fare on the Alaska or Hawaiian airline website until after July 1, 2027. Is that so? On the same token, is it also true that the 85,000 bonus point won’t show up until then as well?

    Thanks ahead for your reply!

    • I recently applied and received the new Atmos Infinity card paying the premium $395.00 extra. Being a Gold Alaska member for 40 years and a credit rating of 840 they have the nerve to charge me 24% variable interest rate! I called but the usual scam customer service where they give excuses with no care at all.Shame on them and will most likely cut this card up and go with Chase.
